Steve started fishing seriously when he moved to Roseburg, Oregon in 1993.  More than any other fishing, Steve flyfished on the North Umpqua River, as well as the Elk River near Port Orford, Oregon.  After purchasing a drift boat in 1994, Steve started drift boating the North Umpqua, South Umpqua, and mainstem Umpqua, as well as the Elk and Sixes Rivers.  In 1997, Steve purchased a jet sled and started fishing the lower Umpqua for Spring Chinook and Sturgeon, as well as offshore salmon out of Charleston and Winchester Bay.  In 1999, Steve started his fishing guide service.   In 2004, Steve purchased an offshore boat and added offshore Halibut and Tuna Fishing to his guide and charter service.  Steve holds a United States Coast Guard Captains license, as well as commercial permits for nearshore rockfish and ocean salmon.
